Driver Responsibility Assessment is issued by the NYS DMV for traffic offenses committed in New York, Quebec or Ontario. The court has no say or control over this.
Be aware that if you are convicted of a VTL offense, and you receive 6 or more points on your NY State driver record within an 18-month period, you must pay a Driver Responsibility Assessment in addition to your court issued fine and surcharge. This charge will come directly from the NYSDMV.
